Mamdouh ‘The Great Ramy’ Elsbiay, two-time Mr. Olympia is poised to make another statement in December’s biggest show. In a recent video, Ramy Big joined Dennis James to discuss his preparation and reveal his offseason weight of 152 kilograms (335 pounds).
Big Ramy is considered by many to be the best male bodybuilder in the world. He proved it twice. He defeated reigning 2020 Olympian Brandon Curry to become the champion. Elsbyay then returned to 2021. Olympia and won the show for the second year in a row.
So far, the Big Ramy 2022 season has been full of obstacles. After failing to appear for a guest appearance at the Pittsburgh Pro Show in May, IFBB President Jim Manion took two weeks to apologize to the Egyptian national and explain his absence. After the show, The Big Ramy made it clear that he intends to defend his title in the coming months.
Elsbyay recently said that next year (2023) will be his last year as Mr. Participation in the Olympic Games. According to the men’s outdoor juggler, the decision was made “a long time ago”. He promised his children that he would hang up his pants when he turns 38 next year. Ramey has been in shadow mode for most of the 2022 season, but the current champion is determined to bring his size and muscle to the Las Vegas stage in less than six months.

In a recent interview with one of his coaches, Dennis James, Big Ramy revealed his offseason weight of 152 kilograms (335 pounds).
“Hey, listen, because people think you’re smaller now, how much do you weigh now?” Dennis James asked Big Ramy. “152 pounds.” Big Ramy told James.
While some questioned Elsby’s size during the offseason, James and Elsby laughed because Big Ramy was so wide that he fit the camera perfectly.
“For those of you who think he’s small right now…let me get the exact number, wait. 334.4 pounds. Almost 335. Yeah, let them think you’re small. I see you’re eating. Are you ready? Are you killing it?” James elaborated, “What happened to you in Egypt?

Big Ramy added there is a “great generation” of talent and acknowledged the sport’s top men are “working hard”.
“I think we have a really good generation coming into the Olympics and it’s going to mix it up and make the streak more competitive,” added Ramy.
One name that has been making a lot of noise this year is Hasan Mustafa. Hailing from Rami’s stomping grounds in Egypt, Mustafa proved to be a serious threat on stage as he dialed in the air conditioning. Big Ramy believes Mustafa is among the best bodybuilders out there, and based on his wins at the 2022 Puerto Rico Pro and Orlando Pro, the current champion’s price tag is not unreasonable.

“I think a lot of them work hard. They work hard to be at the top of bodybuilding and in Egypt. I think now that he [Hassan Mustafa] is doing everything in Egypt, he thinks he can be in line and he can go more than before because Hassan is still young. He’s still young.”
Big Ramy will compete against several top-level bodybuilders at the Olympics later this year. Perpetually broken Hadi Chupan is looking to win his first Sandow Cup after finishing third in last year’s 2021 event.
2021 Olympic fourth-place finisher Hunter Labrada looks to bring his best package to the stage, and right behind him is Nick “The Mutant” Walker, who continues to turn heads in the offseason. Walker achieved Mr. 2021. Olympia finished fifth in the show’s debut and hopes to improve on that spot when she competes this winter.
